Tyrone Presbyterian Church’s roots are deep in Dawson having been founded by settlers in the year 1774.
In 1772, stories tell us that sermons were spoken on the grounds of this church under the Old Oak Trees. In 1774 a Presbyterian Church Congregation was Organized. Since then, four churches have stood at this site of the present-day church. The first two were constructed of logs and the third was of brick. On August 10, 1871, the Congregation approved of the construction of this, the fourth, Church Building. May 4, 1873, Tyrone Presbyterian Church’s new Church Building was dedicated.
